Today I bought a pattern

Today we took a trip 25 minutes up the road to Taree. DD2 wanted to check out all the specials and I hoped to get a chance to spend a little time in Spotlight. The weather is perfect today, just 25 degrees, so the drive was enjoyable. I was able to pick up a few lovely pieces of fabric for more girls bags and also dared to browse the pattern books.

Because of my commitment to refashioning at the moment I have decided to be brave and try sewing a few tops for myself. I can actually sew clothes and did so for years - even down to fitted trousers for my then husband - but the change in my figure as well as bad health has scared me off, as has the price of patterns.

If I'm going to spend nearly $20 for the pattern plus fork out money for material and sundries only to find that the style doesn't suit me any more then I would be really upset.

Now, however, I have discovered the possibilities of using old linens and recycling larger clothing I don't feel so bad about the waste. This New Look pattern only cost $10.50 and is the sort of style I used to wear. I'm a petite/plus pear shape so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

    Hurrah. This looks like a good pattern to try out, and I've learned that a v-neck is very flattering for basically every female figure (regardless of size). I'm sure once you play around with it there will be endless potential for nice tops. And refashions from button-down tops!!

    so glad I popped by ! I really want to sew myself some tops and have floundered looking for a style I like and that I may be able to manage.
    This looks perfect, big boobs so I need a v-neck and I think I shall try the sleeve as a 3/4 sleeve...upper arms need some work !

    Looks like a great summer style. I love the idea of refashioing older, bigger clothes and I'm sure you'll get your confidence back when you get going.

    This pattern looks like you could modify it a number of ways to suit lots of looks. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
