Not inspired

Wow! I hadn't realised that it was so long since I posted last. I can't even say that I have been really productive, at least not as far as my sewing has gone. All I have managed to do is to make one bright yellow pillowslip for daughter number 2 and a bit of mending for daughter number 1.

In between running around for everyone and sleeping the rest of the time I really have been unproductive. My current resolution is to get the entire house sorted by the end of February ( as if that was possible!) and then to get a workable, maybe flexible schedule going for the rest of the year.

One thing I don't have to worry about is the schooling part. Daughter no 2 is so well motivated that she gets all of her work sorted by herself with only the odd question now and then. I am really proud of her.

Just thought I would leave you with what I see outside my kitchen window every day. Thrifted items again - pots from ebay and the tray from local roadside collect.
And these segulls I snapped yesterday.
Adios!

New Header

Just a quick line to say I have been going mad all day trying to work out what I want as my blog header. This what I decided on. Sorry to everyone who liked the pears (especially daughter no 1) but I think my new header describes me better. Both photos were taken by me and the artwork in the current one was also created by me and called "My Paradise Picture". Both pictures can be found in flickr. Catch you later.

I love the rain

While my old home state of Victoria is desperately in need of water in it's storages we, here on the New South Wales coast, seem to be almost waterlogged. Not that I am complaining, mind! I certainly never need to water any of my pots and the car is automatically cleaned every few days! I'm not so keen on the constant mowing or should I say the constant need to mow because, truth be told, I still haven't mowed since I've moved. I did actually try yesterday but nothing went right so I decided to indulge my self and went down to the beach and took a few photos.

I've just rediscovered that I need to make sure the horizon is perfectly straight or you could get seasick looking at my photos.

Once it got too dark for the camera I did a little bit of curbside shopping. What I mean is that this week is our councils major cleanup day and I just had a little look see to see what I could see. And boy! did I see, even though it was dark and raining half of the time. It breaks my heart to have to leave so much beautiful stuff out there knowing that it will soon be trashed but I really don't have room for anymore inside the house. I am trying to simplify my household and I was really only after a few ceramic or clay pots for my back verandah but unfortunately this was not the year for them. Last year I got a lovely collection of them. This year seems to be the year of the wheelbarrow, the fan and the ironing board. Last year was all about pots and excercise bikes and plastic outside chairs. I wonder what treasures I will find next year!

I love everything that I found but was also very happy to find a free standing slippery slide for a friend with two little ones who had previously asked me to keep my eyes open at garage sales for them. The whole family, including grandma, were waiting to look at it when I arrived at around 9:30 last night. The father told me that the odd contraption you see on the right of the main picture is a harrow. I just want it as a decoration for the garden!

Cheerio!

Finally, some more photos!

Hello Again!

I think I have finally figured out the USB storage device attachment for my computer. Apparently it makes a big difference if you put you disc in back to front or not! At least, I hope that is all there is to it. I've taken two lots of photos today and managed to download both. Maybe I will become an expert at this. (I'm sure my kids are laughing because it is so simple for them!)

I had a bad day yesterday with a little bug so decided just to take things easy today and do a bit of garage sale shopping. I think Americans might refer to garage sales as yard sales which is quite often a more apt description because most things are strewn around the yard.

Anyway, today I had a lovely time browsing and buying. I have included some photos of my finds. I've gotten to the age where I finally bargain on prices as I normally go looking towards the end of the sale time. Today, however, I went earlier and actually felt a little guilty when I asked for cheaper prices as the objects where already a steal. I am told though that that is the way to go about garage saling and I know when I have had the odd sale that people are only willing to buy for ridiculously low prices so in the end I don't feel too bad doing the same. What do you think about bargaining? I'd love to hear your comments.

Did I tell you that I just moved house a few weeks ago. Well, things are slowly getting into their correct places although I don't expect the finished product for a while yet. I would really love to get my craft room organised as I have a few commissions for friends and family to finish. Maybe, just maybe, the room will be good enough to share with you. I did my bedroom a couple of days ago and it is so tidy that I am scared to sleep in it for fear of wrecking it! Only kidding.

I think I will leave you today with a couple of photos of the view across the street.

Really there are houses somewhere over there too but I just love to appreciate the good bits and ignore the ugly.
