Last Post

Well, it may not be my last post but I am going away for a month to cold, cold Melbourne and may not have the opportunity to say anything for a while. Rest assured I shall still keep up with all of you though.

Instead of packing and setting my house to rights I have spent my last evening whipping up a bag for myself. The pattern is based on one from gretelies.blogspot.com. (Sorry. I am still having trouble with working this link thing.Sometimes it works for me and sometimes not. This time it isn't.) The fabric is a heavy, pure wool that I bought nearly 30 years ago on a sale table at Lincraft for $4.00. I always wanted to make a coat with it but it would have had to have been a sleeveless one because there wasn't enough fabric.

I cut out some lovely appliques but when I laid them on the bag panel they looked horrible. So the finished bag is just plain black with a couple of gorgeous buttons from my collection.

It has two zippered pockets - one attached to the top for valuables and another to the bottom for personals. I chose a burnt orange fabric for the main lining because I want to be able to see what is down the bottom and I think black is too dark for that.

Cheerio!

  1. Gorgeous bag. The buttons are stunning. It is cold in Melbourne at the moment, so you'll be needing that wool bag to hug and keep you warm. Hope you enjoy your time in Melbourne.
